- Log into Windows Vista with an account that has administrator rights. It is recommended to create a user account with the same name and password that was used in the previous Windows installation.
- Take ownership of the BACKUP folder.
- From the Windows Vista default Start menu, click All Programs, Accessories, and then click Windows Explorer.
- In the Windows Explorer window, double-click Computer, double-click Local Disc C:, right click on the BACKUP folder, and then click Properties.

- In the BACKUP Properties dialog box, click the Security tab, and then click Advanced.

- In the Advanced Security Settings for BACKUP dialog box, click the Owner tab, and then click Edit.

- In the User Account Control dialog box, click Continue.
